Imagine being a child and being forced to kill your parents or watch people being burned alive in their homes. Unfortunately, this violence is reality for thousands of civilians in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The conflict between the Lord’s Resistance Army and the Uganda/Congolese Offensive since late 2008 has displaced hundreds of thousands according to Doctors Without Borders.
Luis Encinas, coordinator of Doctor Without Borders operations in Central Africa reports that “the local population is the target of violence: murder kidnapping and sexual abuse.”
The conflicting parties should cease their attacks against civilians and allow humanitarian relief to assist the victims of this cruel violence.
