Bloggers beware. The government of Azerbaijan has no sense of humor. What’s the reward for satirizing the government through blog postings? In the case of Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade, who were attacked at a restaurant for discussing a youth movement, the police “interrogated the youths for five hours without their lawyers, charged them with hooliganism, and set their alleged attackers free.”
Mr. Milli and Mr. Hajizade were convicted of the charges during a trial which was closed to the media in order to protect “witnesses.” They continue to be imprisoned on these suspicious charges.
Hey Azerbaijan government, Christmas is just around the corner; my gift to you will be a sense of humor. In the mean time, why don’t you drop the trumped-up charges against Mr. Milli and Mr. Hajizade and release them immediately?
