Let’s Get Ready to Rumble

Tomorrow, the United Nations’ climate conference begins in Copenhagen. These four questions are essential according Yvo de Boer, executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC):

  1. How much are the industrialized countries willing to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases?
  2. How much are major developing countries such as China and India willing to do to limit growth of their emissions?
  3. How is the help needed by developing countries to engage in reducing their emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change going to be financed?
  4. How is the money going to be managed?

Here is a primer for what you need to know. One interesting discussion will regard whether or not the United States will finally ratify the Kyoto Protocol, which is aimed at reducing greenhouse gases.
