Sometimes you have to take two steps back in order to take one step forward. That seems to be the motto for the members of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
The other day, I asked what species mankind would wipe out next after members of CITES failed to reach an agreement on banning the over fishing of Atlantic bluefin tuna.
It looks like I have the answer to my question. Members were unable to reach an agreement to protect red and pink coral.
On the other hand, it looks like a compromise has been reached on protecting tigers.
Ideally, taking three steps forward while taking none back is preferred to taking two back and moving forward one.
