People’s World Conference on Climate Change

In case you hadn’t heard, this week the small town of Tiquipaya, Cochabamba in Bolivia is hosting “an alternative” conference, as the BBC puts it, to last year’s climate change talks in Copenhagen.

Dubbed the “People’s World Conference on Climate Change,” it is going to “give the poor and the Global South an opportunity to respond to the failed climate talks in Copenhagen,” as Democracy Now puts it.

Not surprisingly, there is very little to non-existing coverage of the Bolivian conference in the United States; other than The Huffington Post and Democracy Now, I haven’t seen much coverage from other U.S. news outlets. A search on Google news displays links to stories from the aforementioned BBC, Al Jazeera, Eco Factory, The Guardian, The Voice of Russia and Green Left.
