It’s All in the Past

If the Spanish Supreme Court goes ahead with its conviction of Baltasar Garzon for investigating crimes committed during the Franco era, it will be sending the wrong message about its justice system.

The 1977 Amnesty Law Mr. Garzon is accused of breaking “violates Spain’s obligations under international law.”

Other than having a cool name, Judge Garzon has exhibited tremendous courage by pursuing his investigation, especially in the throws of heated political opposition.
