While battling another bout of insomnia this morning, I was watching America’s Funniest Home Videos.
During one segment, host Tom Bergeron asked audience members to recite some tongue twisters. Of course, hilarity ensued when all three members failed to repeat the difficult phrases. The one that I firmly recall was saying “toy boat” three times quickly.
I don’t know how much linguistic work has been done on tongue twisters, but it’s certainly interesting that even for native speakers, it can be quite a chore to repeat them.
