Nine years ago, I woke up to see the horrific images of two airplanes crashing into two towers at the World Trade Center. Today, in the United States, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.
Since then, 9/11 has been associated with the terrorist attacks on the US. What most people don’t know — at least inside the US — is that in 1973, the first 9/11 took place, which was the overthrow of the democratically-elected Allende government by the Chilean dictator, Augusto Pinochet.
Today, as we remember the victims in the US, let’s also remember the victims in Chile.
