If you ever plan on visiting the city of Sydney in Australia, you’ll be glad to know you won’t have to hold it if you have the urge to use a urinal–at least if you are a man. I was reading this story on AOL about how the city plans on addressing the issue of public urination, which costs the city about $7 million a year (I don’t know whether that is US or Australian dollars).
The plan involves installing “open-air urinals” in order to “discourage drunks from peeing in public.” I guess residents and businesses don’t don’t appreciate having streets and buildings that are soaked in urine. I can see how that may affect Sydney’s tourism, where the motto can become “When you gotta go, you gotta go!”
Questions remain though. Will people actually use these urinals? Will they address the problem of public urination? Finally, where do I wash my hands?
