Defining Google

I just read two articles here and here regarding the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) forthcoming investigation on Google’s, the leading internet search engine, business practices. Google is claiming “it’s still unclear exactly what the FTC’s concerns are.”

One suggestion is regarding an antitrust investigation about “whether Google abuses its dominance of Internet search to extend its influence into other lucrative online markets.”

I am certainly interested in how investigators will define the market should it turn out to be an antitrust investigation. As I have mentioned in previous entries, with any antitrust case, defining the market correctly will either make or break the FTC’s success in completing its investigation.
