Sad story here coming from India regarding the murder of Valsa John, a nun and a social activist. Ms. John was “beaten to death by a gang of about 40 people,” which may have been in connection to her human rights work.
Ms. John was the fourth activist killed in India so far in 2011.
There are two things that need to be done. First, the Indian government–both federal and state–must ensure the safety of all activists. Second, authorities must bring to justice the 40 cowards and their accomplices behind Ms. John’s murder, in addition to bringing to justice those who killed Nadeem Sayed, Shehla Masood and Niyamat Ansari.
